What would it take to make this a SW tank? Am I ready to go down this road?

1. Mushrooms harmless
2. blue clove polyps harmless but they can spread all over your rocks eventually.
3. Aiptasia a pest anemone they can sting and damage other living organisms, they can reproduce quickly and take over.

Well, after looking at Youtube vids, I think I'm inclined to go with this method - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Eb1mtPJVSg.

At this point I can easily remove the LR from the tank. The method doesn't seem to pose a risk to everything else in the tank or anything else on the rock for that matter and it looks pretty darn effective. Even if I move the rock to a QT to work on it, manual removal seems out of the picture as it doesn't seem to be effective. Chemical methods could still kill everything else on the rock. So that doesn't seem like a good idea and by the looks of them they're not 100% effective anyway.

I definitely will not be trying this method - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSkx4_7l8DA That just seems like a really, really, really, really, really bad idea all the way around.

Well, the protein skimmer has got to go. I can't stand it. It is too incredibly freaking loud. I can hear it from every single room in the house and it was loud enough to wake me up several times last night. It's the air pump part of it that is so loud and I have no clue why. I have two other submersible water pumps that I never hear more than a slight hum from when they're running. I just can't deal with it. I can't believe I paid $100 for such a piece of trash. Can anyone recommend a decent protein skimmer in the $100 price range? I'll probably keep this Seaclone garbage around as a backup/emergency unit and re-purpose the air pump.

Removing the rock and burning, smothering with superglue, injecting the nem with peroxide, etc will definitely be best. Know that the nem may suck back in its hole before you can get it. Just take the rock out slowly so you don't spook it. Handle both the aiptasia and the mojano (that is in fact what that is) the same way. Show no mercy.

The clove polyps and the shroom are both fine if you like them. They can take over real estate faster than LPS and SPS corals. If you like them, leave them. If not chip out the rock from underneath them and trade them back in. Other option for the cloves would be to isololate that particular rock from the others so that they can only spread on that rock.

Other skimmer options...

I don't know much about skimmers, but if the air pump is the noisy part shouldn't that be pretty cheap/easy to replace? Although from the way people talk about that brand of skimmer you may be better off getting a whole new one anyways.

My vote would be to return the skimmer for nonperformance and use that money plus the money you were going to spend on a 2nd skimmer to get a decent skimmer you can rely on.

Honestly, I'd have to search for the receipt. I also like to keep backups of stuff around just in case. I don't know how inneffective it is, but in a pinch I would imagine it's better than nothing. I am going to go home and take a lighter to the aisptasia. From where it is I don't think it's got anywhere to hide.

Have not had a chance yet to go scorched earth on the aipstasia. I was eyeballing the live rock and saw these.

It looks like a snail of some kind. It's got a brother as well. Is this a good snail or a bad snail?
