Oh yeah - even w/ laptop limitations, you'll be stoked at how much faster the laptop w/ a C2D or whatever is than a P4... (though it will not be as obvious at first because Vista is such a porker of an OS compared to XP).
What's a good Laptop to have? Laptop experts, I need now. :)

If he has the old HP I believe he does, it'll likely be a single core Athlon XP. C2D is just a core designation, basically implying the latest breed of intel processors. And yes, as suggested, you will be seeing SIGNIFICANT gains over your old pc, despite the resource-hog known as Windows Vista. (Feed it enough RAM and a decent cpu, and its really not AS bad as people say it is... its just more resource hungry than XP was. With XP loaded on my machine, I'd idle at 250mb RAM used by operating files. With Vista, I idle between 600mb and 1gb.)
