whats the best possible set up for plants?

If money wasn’t a thing… I would go with;

-75 gallon (48b x 18 x18) or biger
-Cable heater (one inch of sand)
- Flourite substrate
- 4WPG fluorescent/PC lighting
- Canister filtration
- 25ppm CO2
And the list would keep going.

Flourite over eco-complete… I would go with the Flourite since it dose not have to be kept wet. The eco-complete is nice but with the 4 tries I had with it I had a wet box and dry eco-complete. But I did work good to fill the holes in my back yard the dogs dig.

I dont think there is a generic "best".
There are different types of plants just as there are different types of fish.
Each thrives in slightly different conditions, whether it be ph, temperature, amount of light, height of tank, depth of substrate, soil condition/quality, iron/potassium/nitrate/etc levels...

IMHO the best way would be to start by picking your tank, substrate, heater and filtration, then address lighting/co2/fert as a single issue as they are all related.

I personally am a huge fan of the look of pc lighting and would use that over pc in a heartbeat.
