^^^ Dont have a nano, think I will just use sand, with some supplements, think they should be fine.
that sounds like something i would do.. it doesnt break up and float all over the water column?
If you do sand you need to keep in mind plants arent fond of sand as a substrate. Also you have to mix up the sand every once and a while or it will build up pockets of gas that will be poisonous to your fish. If you get the 3m product try to get the "T" grade it is larger than regular sand and should do better with plants. As far as the plants issue you can keep the plants in those plastic baskets then they would have the nutrients they need. As far as the stiring issue you can also get some "MTS" Malaysian Trumpet snails. With enough of them and if your sand is not too deep they can do a good job of stiring your gravel and they dont eat plants. Good Luck!! PS if you find somone selling MTS please let me know I am trying to get some too...lol
aquariumplants.com makes a substrate that is really cheap and i have had great luck with. Check them out....my plants are thriving in it.
