Whats the best way to treat ick? Out of 15 fish about 8 have it, I don't like chemicals, but i need to do something. I found numorous remedies, just wondering what is best

i add a little salt and turn up the temp high around 84 a little higher if the fish will tolerate it.
 
Since you are looking for a best solution, I'll second the salt/heat treatment. Yes, technically it's still a chemical additive but most fish can deal with salt a little easier.
 
yeah I agree the salt method, is in my opinion the best way, and one of the cheapest, and better yet it really works! Like blitzen25bm said just make sure you have fish that can tolerate salinity, and high heat for a short period of time.
 
ok that sounds good. so we're talking raise temp to say 84 degrees and Mortan table salt is ok? Also, how long to treat? 10 days?
 
Not table salt you need aquarium salt. I have found a remedie that is very effective against most parasite infections. General Cure by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals INc.

Table salt is fine.

Even the iodized stuff reportedy works fine. I use Kosher salt to cook with, so I imagine if I ever do the salt heat thing, it'll be Kosher I use.
