Whats the best way to treat ick?

I followed davedka's article the last few weeks and the ick on my swordtails is gone...gone, gone. Raising the temp speads up the life cycle of the ich, which means it's not on your fish as long. Again, the article Harlock is referring to is a great alternative to meds for the parasites.

Ick

I am a newbie to the forums and only came here initially to find a chemical free cure for Ick. Reading Davids post gave me the info I needed now my fish are ok and happy..as am I. Only thing i would post as an observation is , when I raised the temp of my tanks to 86 degrees, my fish developed an incredible talent in jumping at feeding time..lol i hope my therometer is working ok or I boiled my fish :=)

I would be careful at feeds for this reason..Once my fish were back to normal and I lowered the temp, the fish didnt feel the need to act like flipper.

Point being the raised temp and the addition of salt worked wonders for me and if i can do it properly, anyone can. i never lost a single fish to Ick because I acted and treated it the moment my fish got dandruff :=)

ps obviously I was lucky, would have been a diffrent story if I didnt take advise from here.

During ich treatment with raised temp you don't need to feed everyday either. The fish are stressed as it is so a few days without food won't hurt things at all.
