whats the world coming to?

I tend to agree with most of what's posted here so far. It is how you raise your kids, and its is about picking your battles to fight with them. Some are tough and those are the improtant ones.

In the old west when everyone carried guns, it was not the deterrant that you might think. The criminals knew everyone was armed..and then it was a matter of who was a better shot, or who would shoot to kill.

It all comes back to the moral fiber of a person. There are people who have had sucko parents...and lived in poor environments who have risen above them to be straight arrows...there are those who have the best parents and every advantage who are heinous criminals. I have got to believe there is something in that parental upbringing that inspires the person to either grow up "right" or "wrong"...but exactly what it is I don't know. I just know I figured it out for my kids.
 
I read the other day about a guy in florida who went to Russia, adopted a little girl and brought her back to be the next star in his video collection, no doubt because he could'nt afford an ipod or cell phone. Puhlease. Pbrack, crime and criminals have been around as long as the rules they break. Always with a reason or someone else to blame for their behavior. Bull. We all make our decisions to be the person each of us is. Also, having good parents does not immunize one from deciding one day it would be a good idea to rob the employee pension fund for the new Leer Jet. Wake up and look around, dude.

This whole crime/human nature debate is never far from my mind. Being able to realize what we are is one of our defining traits as humans. So whenever I think of this, it always leads me to one realization. People need to be controlled. If you can not control yourself, someone will do it for you. I like to think I have self control. I don't steal even though I know there is no chance of me being caught. I don't cheat on tests even though the teacher left the room. Just because I can, dosen't mean I do. I don't eat just because I'm hungry. I once went a whole weekend with one meal for the hell of it. Why? To show myself that I could control even my primal instinct.

A criminal is someone who has no control over themselves and has no one to control him. If people don't control themselves, someone will be happy to do it.

I said something similar once... I asked (at the top of my lungs) if anyone would mind "telling the guy in the red hat with the jean jacket, 2nd row from the back to kindly stop mastrubating on the bus"
Suddenly his carnal urges took second to the bus driver just about putting the bus sideways on Yonge St. and the entire bus turning around to stare at him...This poor guy RAN when ever he saw me in the bus terminal LOL
 
But if you've got everything you need (not overly excessive), don't tell me that you'd go out, and steal what you've already got! Gang members nowadays aren't rich kids, or people that have good parents that help and support them, they are often people from less fortunate families.

IF you take that exmple about this guys that takes in young girls to shoot videos, ask yourself how he turned out that way in the first place. Obviously something screwed him up in society, most likely when he was a kid. A kid gets abused by his drunk father, there are fairly large chances that he'll turn out into something that he never should've in the first place if he had good parents. Unless someone suffers from a psychological disorder from birth, most behaviour doesn't just pop out of nowhere.

I'm not proud of my past and ask everyday for forgivness,I wish I could undo everything I've ever done on this front.I didn't need anything I had ever stolen.

I knew it was wrong but at the time I didn't care.

There wasn't much to do around here so we broke into houses.Just because they were there and because we could.It was all about the adreniline rush.

Most times I'd just take any money laying around.In the cases that I took VCRs or whatever I'd just dump them off somewhere for someone else to have.I never profited from it.

Like I said,it was about the rush,not the products.
 
I guarentee it's only going to get worse.......beware.....when right is declared wrong...and wrong is declared as right........that's just where we're headed.

The minority that declares wrong as right has bigger mouths and shout down anyone who disagrees with them...... while the majority, who know better....stay silent because they don't want to be pegged as "intolerant". :eek:


Ice, thankyou for your honesty....there is forgiveness...for those who are looking for it and willing to recieve it.......The first step is admitting you did wrong...and are sorry for it.... ;)

Ice, did you get any help from anyone though?

I know you're not alone. I have a couple of friends who have been or are in jail due to stealing stuff and drugs. They're good guys, but they need help. I can't tell them whats right and wrong, they'll just have to find out the hard way. But there parents were never there to help them.

IT takes a lot of courage to come out like that ICe :thm:
 
I never got caught so I didn't have to worry about jailtime.I guess I basically just outgrew the need for the rush,or figured out I better stop before I decided I needed a bigger rush and started hitting banks :laugh: , and found more productive ways to kill the boredom.
