When to euthanize?

Thanks for the encouragement. I went back and looked at some old pictures of her when she was healthy. After seeing that compared to how she is now, I do realize she's suffering. I'll go pick up some clove oil.
Thanks for the push in the right direction.
Hi blue2fyre. This message was really touching. I am truly sorry for your loss. You really did the right thing. :tombstone:

Thank you.

I looked up some articles on the net and I think I did it right. She did seem to go peacefully.

I'm truly thankful that thngs went peacefully, for you both.

I am glad you did the right thing, and that are feeling comforted and not guilty. It was the most compassionate way to end a well lived fishy life. I know all of our hearts go out to you.

I apologize for the member with the judgmental comments. Perhaps someone should put that one down- like with a buick. It was uncalled for, forget it.

You did the right thing by her for many years, right up until the very bitter end.

yes lets go kill the fish because it's getting old and not so active. Been wasting away for MONTHS huh?...

Why do you guys keep encouraging those kind of stupid behavior instead of just letting the fish be and die naturally if they do die. If you want to kill the fish that's fine, just admit it's no longer your favorite fish or you are bored with it, stop hiding behind "to lessen the fish suffering" bs. How do you know it's suffering, how do you know it wants to die?

It really pisses me off when some noob asks if they can kill their fish because "it's not so active" so it must be suffering, then you get all the people offering sympathy and encouraging them to kill their fish. It's unnatural and wrong, let the fish die on its own term if they do die.

Wow that was uncalled for.

She was clearly suffering. She had lost a lot of weight and only hung out either in her cave or near the top all day everyday. She was starting to show her stress stripes as well. I would have let her die naturally but she just kept wasting away and it seemed like I needed to step in before the other tankmates killed her outright.
If you had seen how she use to be compared to how she was yesterday you would see the clear difference. She use to patrol the tank all the time and wiggle by the glass if I was sitting in the nearby chair. She broke up fights, kept the tank in order and never let the other fish be bullies. Yesterday she was just laying on the bottom of the tank practically waiting to die.
I'm a responsible pet owner not just some "noob".

Your an *** you know that. Really. Ive had fish that were suffering from a disease and i had no choice but to let them die. He just chose the most peaceful and painless way out. I think you should try reading and believing for once. You should be kicked off this site just for that.

Also Blue2fyre you should post some pic of her so that he can compare. Just to prove him wrong.

You still cranky about your liveaquaria.com mess? :hitting:

Yes, sometimes people have fish long enough that they need to consider such things... but thanks for letting the rest of us know you are a :nutkick:

blue2fyre, I just wanted to say that I support your decision and I feel you did the right thing.
