I got my bush fish today and hes smaller than I thought and I don't want him to be stressed out with the larger fish in my 55 but would he be OK? Nothing can eat him. It has
3-shiner minnows (biggest fish)
2-Congo tetras
1-female cutteri cichlid
1-Senegal bichir
1-delhezi bichir
Or should I grow him out in my 30 breeder with
3-cherry barbs
3-Bolivian rams
2-platies
4-kuhli loaches
1-clown pleco

How big is he? They are very cool fish. BUt can eat a larger fish than you think. Mine was eating ember tetras that were I swear a 1/3 of his size! they are INCREDIBLE predators. They will hide a lot no matter what tankmates you put them with...that is their nature. Unless he is very tiny...I would put him in the 55.

They are such cool fish. Watch the way he stalks his food. Beautiful and very interesting. I would definitely have another. There were times I would swear he must have jumped because I could not find him in the tank (I am a daily fish counter!). Only to finally see him so well hidden it was incredible.

Awesome! I'm making my 55 an African biotope for him.

I have 2 and they open their mouth and the sides of their mouth open also to make a large opening.
Mine hide all day and come out in evening to search for some live prey they will eat pellets but not often they prefer live feeders. Kinda like having tiger endlers they produce fast enough for a few live feeds a week. Kinda nice when you have older or not wanted culls.
I tried to get a pair but what ever I got there the same. Always bickering slow motion. I love them free floating like a drifting leaf. Tail up lol

So what can I feed him? I have some worms but I'd have to chop em up small
