where to get rocks?

Any vinegar will work but distilled white is the type most use. Sandstone won't fizz unless the sand it's made up of is limestone, but it does tend to deteriorate in aquaria.

Yeah, I have sandstone in my tank. Hasn't affected the ph.

Personally I got my rock at Home Depot.

Ten grand for a couple of rocks?! One more reason to fly over Ohio on my way to somewhere else!

I drove across on the way to Wisconsin a few yrs back, and I like to get out to Cedar Point every few years. Definitely an underrated state scenery wise.

I got alot of slate from home depot. Broken boxes= great find for me.

Outside also has very competitive prices and great costumer service. If you have a problem with a rock purchased from outside, they will swap it out for one of equal or lower or greater value, free of charge, or you can return it for a full refund.

... I must admit, outside is where i do my shopping when it comes to rocks

I saw someone on here buying slate tile at lowes/home depot. I don't know about pricing on that, but they just broke it up to size. Or maybe check the garden section at one of these diy stores.

I also just took stuff from outside. I would think that there has to be somewhere within a short trip of the city that you could scavenge. Good luck.
