I'm looking to order a 4 stage RO unit. #1 below seems to have the best filteration (according to them) but I wanted some experienced opinions before I order. Any suggestions are welcome - no need to limit suggestions to those I've listed. Thanks.

I ordered my RO/DI unit from Filter Direct on Ebay and got the unit, a float valve, and a TDS meter for $165 including shipping. It was a pretty good deal and the unit works like a champ. I've had it for about 6 months.

Shop around some more... there's much better prices available.
I like thefilterguys.biz -- quality parts and excellent customer service.

I have the same one, it has been a champ for me.. and it does 100 gpd (advertised) get about 50 gpd with my water pressure.

Here is a cheaper one that goes for 95.00 and has almost everything mine does

The order is in... next weekend I get to try to figure out how to set it up! I'll be using the cold water at the washer/dryer hook up along with the washer drain pipe (I don't own a washer/dryer). I will be getting a large garbage can to store the water in.

Is there anything else I will need to get this up and running?

I would have a powerhead and a heater so you get the water up to your tank temperature and then measure your salinity level once it is up to temp and make your adjustments. Then let the powerhead do its work (I let mine site for 24 hours) to ensure proper mix before changing water.

I have the heater ready and I plan to pick up an extra powerhead next weekend too.

Is there any need for a second can (fill one with RO water, syphon to 2nd can to add salt - keeping the first container pure for topping off and what not)? Or is that just overkill?
