OK, my opinion.

Malawi...color. The color range doesn't get much better. The broadest range of attitude.

Tanganyika...personality and oddities. A community tank is more possible with the right mix of Tangs.

Victoria...this is my baby. A lot of the species are endangered. I think that in itself is reason enough to have a colony of Victorians. But, some of the fish are absolutely gorgeous, the attitude range is from mild mbuna to fairly aggressive mbuna. Can be mixed with some mbuna and haps. Hearty fish. Breeds early.

lol seems biased twards victoria. :evil_lol:

yeah thats good to inform those of a commonly overlooked group. i decided to take a look at some of the victrorians the other day. some of them have very atractive colors. once i can get more big tanks i may have to set up a victorian tank

lol. i left out all stuff that was non-riftie, which only makes sense since this is the rift lake section lol.

I think if more people knew of all the fish from Victoria, there would be a lot more keepers of them. Most are harder to find with the exception of maybe the zebra obliqs and the hap 44. I myself like all 3 lakes and it is a hard choice.

I totally agree. I have 2 victorians and they are awesome. They both are red, blue and yellow. It seems pretty hard to find red on a cichlid other than Victoria (I know there is some red from other lakes).
I only have 2 mbuna but they just might be my favorite. I started out with Tangs. I really like the calvus and compressiseps too. I have 7 of those combined. Tough choice. I'm not voting but I agree Victoria is a little underestimated, there are some cool fish from that lake!
At least all 3 lakes are better than the SA cichlids. OUCH! Ha ha. :eek3:

I love my Victorians. I admit it...I spoil and baby them. Most of the species of Vics that I keep are endangered, and I take this fairly seriously. I keep mostly species only tanks for these guys, because I intend to breed and distribute fry from them.

I will say that I love my Malawi tanks too. I love the variety and colors. I love love love my blue dolphins. And my p. electras, and my c. borleyi. I love the mix of colors in those tanks. I call those my "fun" tanks.
