Is there a such thing as a white betta. I saw 2 at walmart and I didn't know if they were sick or if that was that color.

I thought they were pretty rare, especially the pure white ones. I don't like the ones that are partly white, because they do look sick.

If I had all the money in the world, I would buy myself a spectacular all white male and a true forest green colored one, too. The true green ones run for about $100 each online. You have to get them directly from a breeder, because they'll hold on to them instead of selling them to stores.

I saw a pure white betta at petsmart tonight. First one I've seen like that.
whoo! you have an inside scoop, though. you're probably one of the first people to see the new fish at the store.

Maybe I should start staking out my LFS's on Wednesday nights ;) Isn't that when most fish stores get their shipments?

I've seen the white opaque ones (sort of see-through fins) more and more frequently now, but not the white irridescent in the pet stores. If I ever see a white irridescent I'll need to be setting up yet another tank, LOL.

yeah, I don't like the cellophane ones. That's what they call the see-through whites. The ones I like are the pure, snow whites without see-through fins. Those are actually called "opaque". funny, huh?

Ah, cellophane! I couldn't remember the name of that color! So the opaque are actually the sort of shiny/irridescent ones then.

Candycat21 had one for sale, it's gorgeous:

Hey Guys, I figured I would share with all of you one of my brand new aquired bettas...I must give credit to my breeder in Thailand(Mr.Rung Keereelang) who took this great picture though. I can't wait to get him....should be monday!! Enjoy the pic :thm:

Pure solid platinum white. Looks a little yellow, but that's because of the water, they use almond leaves which tint the water.
