Who did it? RCS eaten

Betta. I tried to see if a Ghost Shrimp population could be started in my Betta tank with plenty of Java Moss cover. The Betta hunted down shrimp as soon as they got into the tank, finding their hiding spots and leaving them for dead.

My money is on the betta. I started with ~8 RCS's, and they were doing fine at first, because they never came out of hiding from the driftwood when they were new. A couple of months went by and they were not even scared of the betta. They would sit right out on the driftwood and just sunbathe as Merlot, my betta, swam by. I guess Merlot eventually found out how delicious and nutritious the RCSs were. My RCSs had started breeding and my count got up to 11-12 RCSs, but as they began to get more comfortable around Merlot, the colony eventually disappeared, all within a short amount of time. And I knew it was him, because I watched him stalk his prey many many times.

Hey guys! After keeping an eye on the cherry shrimp population (all 8 of them, lol), I noticed that there have been no more cherry heads to be found after I removed my betta, Fishy-maboo. Still I want to return him to his glory days in the 29 gal so I've got a new 10 gal shrimp tank! :D

More good news: I got some male cherries from the fish store! They were keeping some "slower moving" cherry shrimp in a bowl to feed to their (apparently equally slow at stalking) marine bat fish and gave me some free because the cherries were "very inbred." Can anyone tell me what an inbreed shrimp looks like? Thanks!
