Your target pH should be 6.5.

When you first set the bubble rate check every few hours. Or after a gas tank refill.

You can easily stop any DIY CO2 source or any CO2 source for that matter by using the suction side of powerhead to pump your CO2 into a reactor or just hav it disperse without a reactor to catch any bubbles. When the pump is on, the CO2 dissolves, when it's off, the bubbles escape out the top of the tank.

Simply plug the pump into the same timer as the lighting. You can ever use a CO2 controller with DIY etc if you wanted to.

There are two other ways but this is the easiest and most practicle.

Thanks Tom. I have been just turning the CO2 off at the regulator (where it goes into the main hose) and leaving the Duetto on (it provides a little water movement at the bottom).

Today I checked it before the lights came on and the pH was 7.2 and KH is 65ppm (more accurate today). I turned on CO2 at one bubble per second and after one hour the pH was 7.0 so I upped it to one bubble per just over 1/2 second , not quite 2/s. So I will see where I stand in another hour.

Thanks, you all are a great help, especially since no one around here has a clue as to what I am trying to do.

There are folks that are color blind, they use a pH monitor. These are worth their weight in gold for many folks keeping tabs on their CO2.
