Why can I not keep bettas alive?

whatever, you never saw the fish or delt with mine day to day you had no idea other then what I told you of how it was cared for so dont tell me the betta thanks me. It's gone so it's over and done with.
My pleco makes a terrible mess of poop in my 55g and I gravel vac twice a week. How would you ever find the poor bugger in a vase? :thud:
