Why do so many people mispell "lose"?

See what happened to nu-ku-ler ?

Ahah! That David Letterman joke was so funny, I still laff about it. /evil

Of course, that's what we get for putting slang like Google in the dictionary.

I have problems with:
accommodate
advice/advise
analyze
apparent
arctic
changeable
conscience/conscious
eminent
exhilarate
explanation
fascinate
incredible
occurred
paralyze
perseverance
prevalent
principal/principle
similar
surprise
tendency
village
villain
I take pride in my spelling and vocabulary but sometimes I make mistakes.

Ever notice the problem with correct pronounciation too?

I say potatoe you say potahto ;)
Let's call the whole thing off.

(I actually say potato)

I actually can't believe no one caught that... O.o It's not pronounciation... it's pronunciation. *lol*

Can't believe ya'll left out then/than!!! Talk about a gripe!! It's as bad as loose/lose, which gets me too (or is it to? or two?) Adults should not be making careless errors as such, although since (sence?) I'm a teacher and have been a voracious reader all my life, these things pop up at me more than for others. If you're dyslexic, it's one thing. If you're just plain lazy, then use a dictionary for goodness' sake!!!! Sorry, just a nu-ku-lar rant!!!

Help me with "further" and "farther"...

I'm pretty loose on the meanings, but I may lose a bet!
