will a tank meant for reptiles hold water?

dangit why is it that all the ac members are so far away!!!!!!!!

I would be able to fix you up with a freebie right now but yall to far away.

dang it!! if only shipping was free courtesy of our government. lol. like france's free healthcare. haha.

well i filled the tank up halfway and let it sit overnight and it did fine, so im using it filled halfway right now until my birthday (three weeks :D ) comes and i get a lil bday cash to find a craigslist deal!

it'll work... but bow in the center most likely. silicone a center brace in while it's empty and you should be fine for filling it up to the top.

i like that idea. What should i use as the center piece? and just normal aquarium silicone right? GE I?
also im thinking of resealing it. If i do would clear or black silicone look better?

if i reseal it though it shouldn't shatter, right?

I would think it has to do with the sealant not being resistant enough to withstand the pressure from the water.

If i resealed the tank and siliconed a center brace on it, do you think it would be safe then?

sorry, i feel like im beating a dead horse here asking all these "what if's" when i know the right way to do this is to wait and buy a real aquarium. I just am squirming with mts and could really use the tank space

Well...In my experience, no it will not! Lol

It leaks and is not sturdy to hold lots of water.

Sorry!

I measured and the glass is barely over an eighth of an inch thick..im so so tempted just to fill er up and see how it goes.

do you know how thick a twenty long's glass is? i googled and googled but didn't find anything helpful on thickness.

The thickness of a 20 long is 3/16", I just measured my empty one, if you are anywhere near St. Louis, I can hook you up with it in trade for your reptile version.
I was planning on using it as a wet dry filter that will only have about 3" of water in it anyway as well as multiple barriers spanning the width of the tank to brace it.

ahh. that would have been perfect. unfortunately, im in Springfield. ugh
My 2/16" probably won't ever be safe enough for peace of mind when filling it up full, even if i reseal and center brace it

thanks so much for the offer anyway :(
you don't happen to have any plans to come down and visit springfield any time soon do you? :D haha
