It must be treated longer than many people realize, or it can/will re-occur.
It can be treated with higher temps. and once it starts to fade leave the temp. up there for a couple of extra weeks or it may return.
If it was my tank, I would use un-iodized(just my old school hangup) salt at 1/2 strength and clear it out of the system with multiple water changes after I was sure the fungus was gone.
Salt does not evaporate out of the water column. It stays there if not diluted/removed through water changes.
