Windows 7 RC1 now available for download.

all you people that constantly complain about vista need to get with the times man...

Vista WAS a really crappy operating system when it was released... but due to many updates and a service pack-- it is acctually a very stable OS.. one that I prefer to Xp SP3 now that it has been fixed (hence the windows mojave experience)

I am a firm believer that most people who complain about Vista right now.. are just doing it because they think its the cool thing to do.. and really havent given it a chance since its updates

ON that note..... WINDOWS 7 IS AWESOME!

note that I am a software development major currently 1 month away from completing my bachelors degree.. and have been using computers since I was 12--- so im not just talking out my *** here

I disagree with you in this subject. With many fix, Vista is not crashed as much as it's initial release. However, Vista's memory / resource management is pretty bad. That is why it is still slow and reserves too much memory as an OS.

As an example, our company have a contract with MS and can use any supporting version of SW from Microsoft without additional charge (This is completely different meaning of support / update of end user). We are currently using XP as default OS for all personal computer / terminal even if we have to pay additional cost for the maintenance because XP is not included in the current supported version anymore since this June.

As a IT and Consulting Co. owner- doing Large and Small scale networks, puplic AP's, building and repairing PC and Laptop repair for the past 12 years including working for the state for a couple years and being a MS partner and reseller, MCP, Net+, A+, CCNA and CCNP.
I have had more VISTA related issues in my office than I can count. Im speaking of fully updated boxes which I recommend to everyone of my clients is to turn on auto updates and do manual updates every week. 4 PC's in a row with a vista config. update loop right now actually. most of which are believe or not NOT virus/malware/hijackers related. While I do agree that vista needs all the updates for it to perform like it should, its still not that great IMO.
I have tested windows 7 for a while now. and while it is MUCH faster than VISTA. I find it a faster vista that is slightly more stable version is all. if they would offer DX10+ support for XP I would still prefer to use it. I am a user that could care less about the new bubbly fancy areo GUI.
I have 7 XP boxes/laptops with one being XP x64 running 6GB ram (drafting box) and 2 vista machines both ultimate one x64. after tweaking the stuff out of the OS I have it to my liking. well, close enough anyway, and one server 2008.
I actually find that I like server 2008 for the most part. not to bad...
I would also like to add that I do not sell my new PC's with vista unless a client asks for it.
Last but not least and most importantly- the above are all opinions of mine and my employee's and other consultants based on what we see 6 days a week in our profession. We/I do NOT push the above as FACTS. Only as what we see in our business.

I would also like to add that I usually do not get involved with opinions one what is best, be it Intel vs AMD, XP/Vista/7 and last but not least, you will never hear me talk about politics. But this thread seems to be a more friendly discussion rather than someone stating what they believe to be "FACTS" or how it should be done.
My family has lost friends over their OPINION of who and how our country should be run. It may be the most ridiculous thing you may have heard, but it is the truth.

I do agree that vista is a bit of a resource Hog.. and I was happy to see that windows 7 fixed that.

I guess the main reason that I dont notice that failure as much is because I run a quad-core, and 8GB of RAM lol

LOL...its obvious your going to hear a couple of issues here and there, Conduct, its still Beta / RC software....
But I heard this same praise 3 years ago on Vista and when it was released Microsoft dropped the ball and ruined it.

I will give W7 the ultimate test tomorrow.
Going to install it on a server and try it out before I install VMware ESX 3.5
Duel Xeon Quad 2.6MHz cpu
32GB Ram
RAID 1 4x300GB Velociraptors
Just hope that W7 sees the Intel RAID controller.
