Working out, works for you?

Nah the protein shakes are not a waste of money at all even when starting out. You need the protein from some source and they're great for when for instance you can't get the right food quickly after working out. Also very easy to consume.

But they are a bit expensive for something you can do without if you plan right. I use them when I work out at the gym I use in the city centre and I know I won't be able to get home within three quarters of an hour or so. If I plan right/my schedule allows, I will just have a couple of bananas and a small portion of some tuna with pasta from a nearby deli and then eat more at home. I find this a bit easier on the digestive process than the shakes, which take a lil bit of getting used to.

One thing you would need to watch though is that if you use the shakes you continue to eat healthy aside from them - the protein high foods - chicken, tuna and all that good stuff can be a very large part of a healthy diet and basically when working out I try and get as much of that stuff into me as I possibly can anway.

What you will likely find is that you get overall heavier at first, including adding some body fat. You can work on refining your diet and training then to stay at a decent healthy weight for you that you are happy with your look as well. Nothing wrong with weight gain, including some fat gain, when you are not overweight. Its all about cardio-vascular fitness, and a high metabolic rate, and feeling good.

I personally never use creatine. Don't like that stuff and don't recommend it. Opinions do vary however - personal choice.

Sorry for hijacking Breeze's thread - still on topic though :D
