WTF...How rude!

Probably - you were just the 10th dipstick to ask him the same sorts of question that day (wait - did that come out right?).

And that's why he's a basement breeder and not a LFS manager.

IRL, you can't tell people to RTFM, but on the net, it's sometimes acceptable to tell someone to
stfu2we2.gif

(and sometimes it isn't - he just didn't know what time that was).

PS - yes, ^^ that's rude, yes, I'm joking.

Every profession has it's personal way to deal with advice. Doctors get hit up for free medical advice, lawyers for legal advice, professors in a university are stopped in the hall by students for advice, computer techs get calls in the middle of the night because someone cant sign on AOL, the list goes on. It could be that the person was caught at the wrong time for the millionth time and everyone has bad days. Best to move on and let it go.

Ok....why are we making excuses for rude behavior?? The jerk was rude plain and simple. I doubt he is the only Killifish breeder in the world. Just do business with someone else and leave the jerk wad alone.

As for service?? You buy something from an electronic store, car dealership, furniture store, bicycle shop, wal-mart, or a pet store and you are **** well gonna expect a little help if you have a question about the product. It is common sense to me to ask a breeder, who I would expect to be a semi expert in regard to the fish he/she is breeding, who I bought a fish from for some advice when handling a concern that worries me.

Geez....customer service really has gone the way of the DODO BIRD.

THANK you. That's all I'm saying. I asked him because I expect someone in his position to be more of an expert on such matters. He was flat out rude, IMO, and I was just taken aback.

Don't worry, I had a guy sell me some plants and ask me not to smoke them until they dried. Twas all in good fun though.

I agree. Although it is fair to say that he might have been joking, it was still rude. If you want your customers to come back and buy from you again, you treat them with respect and don't insult them.

I went and bought a new car the other day, after buying it i asked the salesperson to teach me how to drive....

 before you jump head first into this hobby, do some research or ask here. :)

So, you expect no after sales service on the car? Would you expect them to give any advice later if you ring them up to ask about some problem you are having with the car? Like what oil or brake fluid to use?

Sure, they might not teach you how to drive, that's what a drivers license is for, and they probably would sight that when you buy. But specific help for that particular product is certainly expected. Indeed you get a warranty with the car. Good breeders stand behind their product as well...

I agree. I know several dog breeders and they would never treat their customers that way if asked for advice.

sorry, i should also add IMO i don't think its his responsability to teach people how to care for fish.

He's probably had hundreds of people asking these sorts of basic questions and you coped the brunt of it.

The truth is when some people are stocking with 20c fish they don't care if it dies or isn't looked after properly.(that statement was in no way aimed at you :) )
When people want to stock with $100+ fish.....the research is done and it is cared for correctly.
