I have a pair of yellow labs, roughly 5 inches each, but they are both quite pale, and have always been that way ever since I recieved them when I bought one of my tanks.

My question is is there a way to brighten them up, or were they just born that way? and if they ever have fry together will all the fry be as pale as them?

Should I try different foods? I also have an electric blue hap in with the labs, and he is a very stunning blue color, so I dont know if its related too the food or not...

Also ways to stimulate breeding? just clean water with proper conditions?

i have a similar problem. one of my labs is really faded, shes inperfect shape though and is never harrassed. im not sure what the problem is because the other fish is beautiful.

Probably from several generations of breeding and in-breeding with these guys, to try color up feed some cichlid color enhancing foods you can use a little bit of krill as well but be careful not to bloat your fish due to high proteins so dont feed them this consistently only a few times a week and offer a lot of fresh veggies to off set the proteins like sea weeds lettuce zucchini slices and fresh de-shelled peas..

how strange, my cichlid feed that i buy should take care of that. perhaps i just have a crappy fish.

Yeah i was going to state that if you feed this and it doesn't work you have a poor genetic specimen or like my little buddy Austin said a crappy fish hehehe..

mine were free from a friend, he had got them from petsmart several years before. so yeah, i wouldnt doubt i got some really crappy genetics

the male is practically worthy of being a show fish though, to strange.....to strange....

did you watch my new videos? im going to hell for that one....
