your fav fw puffer

with dwarfs, you can probably do more than that, around 9. as long as theres at least two females per a male, there shouldn't be any agression issues, especially if you go planted. the more hiding places their are, the better. good luck with this, i've always wanted DP's!

Maybe I am wrong and you guys can help clear things up for me, but I thought that most, if not all, of the dwarf puffers were eventually going to need brackish water when they are adults?

I really love the giant puffer too. Did you see the big article on them in last month's TFH mag? I really want one but of course, dont have the right size tank.

The Mbu puffer is my favourite, but you tank may be ok for it but due to the size it grows i say a 40G + tank is best

An Mbu needs way more than 40 gallons. They get to about 2 feet or more - pufferlist.com recommends 1000gal min. In a 30gal the largest you want to go is about 4-6".
