your thoughts on extended guarantees...

Thanks for your thoguhts./... one thing is for sure, I won't touch extended warrantees anymore.

I guess I'll go back to futureshop and talk to a manager or something. Problem is, i was never the type to "talk the loudest".... I seem to always manage to feel bad for the people behind the counter. in any case, I'll just put on some System of a down in my car or on the way to the store to help get the blood rushing!!!!!!

:)

Futureshop still won't be able to fix your iPod any quicker (and still probably won't replace it)...it's likely going to have to go to Apple. If it's not repairable, then Apple may replace it for you.

You might want to check out a couple of websites about iPods to see what others have experienced. iLounge is one good site that's about everything iPod. And ehMac.ca is a good Canadian site for all things Mac and iPod.

thanks for the links.. i'm gonna check them out. . .

the thing that really pisses me off is that the employee lied to me, and if it weren't for what he said, I would have never paid the money I did for the warranty.

In any case, i'll see what they tell me. . . I'll keep you guys posted.

good group... :p: ;) i like them .. try Jerk out of Australia ..ull like them

i purchased a Olympus C740 Ultra Zoom from Olympus ebay auctions . they are refurbs but way cheaper .. and they only come with a 90 day warranty ..but on Olympus site they sell extended warranties for $50 . in my opinion it is worth it.. rather then paying the $200 to replace the camera .. i havent had a problem with it so far and has been working great and i dont have to worry about the camera for 2 yrs .. plus it gets a cleaning and service to ..so ill wait on that till near the end of the warranty to get that done .. it is really hard to part with the camera when it is glued to my hand :p: ;)

That's the problem with taking a salesperson's word. Unfortunately, they're making a commission at Futureshop, so selling warranties is another incentive for them. Those warranties are carefully worded too...makes it pretty difficult to make a claim.

As opposed to the 3rd party extended warranties, I understand that the AppleCare warranties are pretty good. Not cheap, but cover potential issues quite well. If they can't repair the item they will replace it.

Good luck. I hope that you're able to resolve this issue quickly. Let us know what happens. :)
