I don't think that anyone is trying to intentionally lie. There are other plecos that are commonly called zebras that resemble zebras. Main thing, just make sure you know the size and behavior of the fish you plan to purchase (whether it is a true zebra, or a look alike) If it suits the size of the tank, and you like it- it doesn't really matter whether it is a true zebra or not.
As far as the cory question, there are lots of very attractive cories available and they are very interesting and fun to keep in a school.
There are a lot of special things that should be done for zebra's. Then he posted about the price, which would more than likely mean they are not true Zebra's. Yes there are a few other pleco species that are called and look like true zebra plecos, but they all have different needs.
