Anyone use these pvc overflows or is it only a reef thing?

Old Danner Dynomaster piston-powered air pump

    Feeding Yellow Labs

Hello Russ, they are feeding fine now, both flake and pellet. Will look to add some mysis soon. Just took a couple days to adjust. Finally heard back from original owner who said they basically ate everything!

Old Danner Dynomaster piston-powered air pump

This thing is vintage. From some research, it looks like its an air pump? Is there still a need for air pumps in this day and age of aquaria, what with return pumps, powerheads, etc? Just wondering if there is anyway to incorporate it into my burgeoning fish room (much to my wife's chagrin)...

    dream realized; now reality

I guess I mean the siphon overflows with the hang-on box? IDK, I know I've heard of certain types of overflows draining tanks.

    dream realized; now reality

I've always wanted a big tank and I recently stumbled upon a 135g that was too good to pass up. Now, however, comes the fun (and nightmare) of setting up this beast. My first questions are about plumbing. I have two 90g currently running with overflows/sumps. I won't use anything else. The 135...

    3-spot/Opaline Gourami aggression

I agree, Tifftastic. They're only about 2 inches in a 90g tank. You'd think they'd figure out how to live together in peace! LOL. Enough room for everybody. Actually, it looks like they were just establishing a pecking order. The 3-spot appears to have cooled down. Haven't noticed a lot of...

    3-spot/Opaline Gourami aggression

I've been searching online about these two. I picked them up Saturday for my 90g tank and for the first two days, the 3-spot hid. Now he's out and he's got his eye on the opaline and has started picking on it. Have no idea on sex, they're both about 2 1/2-3 inches. things I've read online have...

    Feeding Yellow Labs

Just picked up 9 yellow labs for 90g tank Sunday. Forgot to ask the previous owner what he fed them and have yet to hear back. Gave flake and pellets. Paid no attention to flakes and pellets, for the most part, would be spit out. Think they're still stressed from the move/new environment? will...

    Been awhile, tank changes

Yeah, Im thinking of adding a couple more SDs to that tank, as well as some angel fish. the 3 SDs in there now are fully mature, about the size of my hand, so i don't know what kind of affect that would have on new tank mates. their pretty docile and hide a lot, so probably wouldn't bother new fish.

    Been awhile, tank changes

I got my answer to the African question, and I should have known it: only thing to keep with africans (mauna) are more africans!

    Been awhile, tank changes

Hello, it's been a while since I've been on here. My two 90g were in perfect order for several years. But the death of my Texas left a void in one of my tanks, so after re-arranging, I now have a 90 with three jewel cichlids, a Lake Malawi and a convict (it's a long story). In the other 90, I...

    first SW build thread

Most people don't use HOB/Cannisters because they clogged really fast and you find yourself having to clean them more frequently. Sumps allow you to not only hide some of the equipment, but provide more total volume for the tank, which can help ease any fluctuations in water chemistry. Be sure...

    HELP! New Tank set up

Actually, if the cichlids you have are really an electric yellow and a cobalt, they are African cichlids from Lake Malawi and require a vegetable-based diet. You say everyone gets along? How old/big are the cichlids? They will probably eventually KILL EVERYTHING as it gets older/bigger. They...

    Rocks for Cichlid Tank

I set up my mbuna tank with pea gravel from Home Depot and rocks I found in a field. If look around hard enough, you might just find what you're looking for. Or, you may even find something you weren't even thinking of using! :) If you really want slate, go to a local landscaping store (or even...

    dwarf lion and ???

Agree with Tanker. However, the dwarf lions tend to stay pretty small and the damsels are pretty fast. I think they would be fine. Your shrimp may be in danger, however.
