I LOVE THESE TANKS. I found a 20 gallon-ish "tank" at Wal-Mart for $7.97

Your fish is very beautiful, BTW! And also the "black" stuff is just gill tissue, nothing to worry about

Thanks. He managed to get stuck in the space between the outer wall and a mini shelf to hold a red bin that came with it. He fit snug in there and couldn't get out. So I touched his tail and he was able to jump out and then I lowered the water level. I'm sure it would be fine if I added even more water, but maybe later.

Great little betta, I vote Lemon too. I'm glad you got a light, the anacharis and val/sag (can't tell) in your bin-tank would have died without it.
