Bubbles from the return should die down unless the water in the return chamber is low? The slime is normal.

So I will phantom feed the tank today to get things rolling for the cycle. I have the temp and micro bubbles figured out and everything stayed stable during this first week.
I was looking at the LFS and saw a sharknose goby, I think that I will get one of those for the tank. If I get some crabs and shrimp, do I need to dose iodine and calcium? We are just talking about hermit crabs, cleaner shrimp and maybe an emerald crab.

No need to dose at all. Emeralds are generally safe but as they get bigger they may try and catch/eat small fish. The hermits will be fine but stick with the small blue legs or scarlets.
The sharknose is a good fish for your size tank. Firefish, smaller blennies and watchmen gobies would make good tank mates.

scratch the emerald crab, probably go with the shark nose and firefish gobies along with a cleaner shrimp and some hermits. I think that will do for my first SW tank escapade.

It’s kind of funny. Because I’m partially color blind so I need my wife’s help to read the tubes. And I set them up in the kitchen and went to do something else and heard “Uh, finally one changed.” She isn’t a big fan of having fish but I convinced her for a SW tank because the fish are generally prettier.
