Never, ever release aquarium specimens into the wild, unless your tank is based on local wildlife and uses all native organisms. This is not something I'd recommend at all. It can be ecologically destructive.

Only for a short period of time--a few days at most with temps under 65 or so.

Umm, those two statements don't quite fit Most reefers think that brown/white rock is unattractive and can't wait to get purple coraline let alone green.
