30G's for first fish, and 20G's for every addtional one after that sounds like what most people use. so at least 55-75G's. fancies don't get too big but they produce a lot of waste like goldfish do.

Agree w/ KJOFAN.

I kept 3 Fancy goldfish in a 25 gallon tank w/ no issues. 2 lived for 2.5 years and third for 1 year..... The caveat is that I had to 2 Aquaclear filters, and did a 20% water change every 2 weeks.

I would say minimum 40g better to be on toward 50g. I would make sure to over filter your tank too.

I am under the impression that they can live up to around 20-30 years. Most of the time if they die young is because of being in a small tank.

I just want my fish to have the best life they can have. I dont want them to suffer.

The tank they are in now has an under gravel filter. It allways on. I did not know you were supposed to turn it off.

I think I have 2 Calico Ryukins and 1 Black Moor. After looking at the pictures of these fish grown, I fear that they are not developing right.

Who said turn it off? You should never turn your filter off. I just meant that..I will be using a filter rated for a 70 gallon tank on my 30 gallon... so I would suggest a similar approach to whatever tank you get. :)

a 55G tank will be able to hold your 3 goldfish OK, but you will need to over filter, and a 75G would be the best way to go if you want to give them the best life possible. the only difference between and 75G and a 90G is height.

OT:I think it would be wiser to move your goldfish into your empty cube tank, kjofan. a 30G is really too small for 2 fancy goldfish.

i have heard 20-30 years but as you said most are kept in to small of tanks and they die.

icecubez189's 30gal for the first and 20 gal for each fish sounds good.
