thats right. no weeny fish- just one fish who has got a serious attitude problem. anyone got any recommendations on a fish?

this is for a 10 gallon, cycling right now with a sand bottom, some rocks, and a few tough plants.

i know the size is quite limited, but im sure there has to be a fish out there who is active, nasty, and almost predatorial. so, any ideas are welcome and appreciated!

thanks!

Dwarf Puffers? Both cute and aggressive.

in the wild, smaller fish usually eek out a living in schools or hiding in the shadows and running. i think youd be hard pressed to find what youre looking for, as most aggressive species are going to be too big. you could look into paradise fish - they are a more aggressive relative of the gourami (since I'm guessing you've already ruled out a betta), like p. dayi. ctenopoma ansorgii might be one of your choices, but it gets 4 inches long, and that may just be too big.

i'd recommend a betta or guppies.

bettas are cranky and guppies have a voracious appetite.

i agree and was thinking the same thing! a few paradise fish might be perfect! 1 4" fish would be too big, i agree. guppies might be good- they can be quite colorful and are usually very active.

a betta is nice, but i would setup a smaller tank for it, like a 5 gallon or soemthing, not a whole ten gallon tank.

thanks all and keep em comin!

I got a betta in a 5-gallon and he has serious attitude and interpersonal (or rather inter-fish) problems. :-)

Golden panchax?. They are small and nasty..Mine beat up my betta and I gave him back to the store.

The males are beautiful and I almost had mine eating from my hand.
