and last but not least the wrasse. it was labeled a red back fairy wrasse but i cannot find any info about a wrasse with that name anywhere online. here are the best pics i could get.

and before the lashings begin about no QT - the fish store is very trustworthy and the fish has been the 2.5 weeks in copper treated water as all their fish are (standard procedure for this store). anywho the fish is doing great, my royal gramma has been pretty upset which doesn't suprise me. he took a chunk out of the wrasse's tail but things seem better tonight.
one of my dog's has been very interested in the tank. he expecially likes our new addition (the wrasse).

it's hard to keep him away from the tank! he keeps jumping at it which is expecially bad since it's acrylic and he needs a nail trim...

Love the brain and the wrasse. it looks like an orange-back wrasse to me though (Cirrhilabrus aurantidorsalis) if that's any help. Hard to tell the true colours from a picture but it does look stunning!!!

Loving the new additions. I have been looking at getting a brain, but with my goby I just don't know if he'll try to bury it.. Very nice though salty... very nice.

ah yes cpd that looks like that's what it is (orange-back wrasse). it really is a beautiful fish. i went to 2 stores looking for a mccosker's, the first store said they had 2 but had just sold them (of course). they both said they could order them for me but i really liked this fairy wrasse. the guys actually tried to talk me out of getting this wrasse because he said if i wanted the mccosker's i should wait and get the mccosker's. he said i shouldn't settle for something that wasn't what i really wanted. but after seeing this fairy wrasse i really liked it. but i did appreciate that he wanted me to make the right decision :)

Love the orange in the brain, bet that turns really bright under your lights. The SPS looks like an Acropora. My orange ric is the same color as your's, mine hasn't split but has gotten large. Love the dog by the way!

Oh and Clown? My brain is up near the top of the tank because of my goby. It does fine.

well this morning i noticed that i have a hitchhiker in my new sps. i was kinda freaking out at first, all i could see was a teeny tiny little smooth white claw waving out from the coral. i couldn't see anything but the claw which wasn't opened up but i could tell it was a claw. my first instinct was to pull out the coral and dip it in FW or something but then i grabbed my laptop and started looking up common hitchhiker crabs and came across charlesr1958's chuck's addiction website and now am feeling a bit more at ease... i think i will be pulling up a chair and staring into the tank all day to see if i can get a better look at the critter in the sps but i am hoping it is a harmless crab. here is a quick little blurb from chuck's site...
"It is very common when buying or collecting corals and anemone to find small crab species living amongst the corals, these are invariably harmless species which have a symbiotic relationship with the coral. While the coral provides shelter and possibly a bit of mucus to feed upon, the crab also returns the favor by acting as the coral's guard, fending off coral predators and parasites. These are the only types of crabs that I allow within my reef aquarium since I know they will not wander the tank causing damage. Tiny Crabs Protect Corals "
guess i'll just wait it out for now... it really is a TINY little crab :)
