Good Beginner Beer

FluffynTex is right!! Please-just don't drink-there's never a need to drink. The people who DO drink are either doing it to act cool or they have a drinking problem. You can't go back in time once you cross that line.

I'm going to strongly protest that point. I don't drink alcohol to be cool...I know i'm not cool, I'm just well past caring at this point. I don't really consider myself having a drinking problem...I stopped drinking altogether cold turkey for 9 months while my wife was pregnant without issue. I drink beer, wine and spirits for the same reason anyone does anything, I enjoy them. Each has its own array of style and flavors to try. I happen to really enjoy the taste of a good microbrew or a well-made martini. To reduce it like that is a little rediculous.

Wow. It's miraculous you two can even see us from all the way up there on your high horses.

I'm not planning on getting wasted or anything. I just want to broaden my horizons. And, if I go out with some friends, I'd like to know what might be a tasty drink to partake responsibly.

I'm agreeing with Sploke and Inka, I happen to enjoy the differences brought forth by each brewery in their individual representations of the styles they produce. I no longer care if people think I'm cool, I don't have a drinking problem, and there are many many people out there just like us. They do it simply because they enjoy it. There is absolutely no need to preach or condone those of us who drink. Everyone has a vice, what's yours?

Anna, if you want to "break" into beer drinking, Lindemanns Framboise is a very sweet raspberry beer that is, in my opinion, the kool-aid of beer. If you want actual beer, since you are in the great state of PA, grab yourself a Yuengling Lager and enjoy our states fine brew.

I'm not much a beer fan, but I pretty much approach it the same way I do with wine, tea and soda - I basically try something new every time until I find a few to stick with.

i was the same way i could drink shots and hard liquor but get me near beer and i wanted to hurl at the smell of it,..
but i tried miller high life bottles and its different they call it the champaign of beers. its nice mild and quite good,.. and after a while i got to like Samuel Addams, winter wheat, as i don't like a strong mix of hops, the more hops the worse i like it,..
but high life is still my favorite that and Sam Addams different blends i like his dark laugher also,.. no but start with high life ice cold bottles first

the can adds a bit of a different taste if you have a sensitive taster like me,..

also it comes in larger single bottles so you don't have to buy a 6 pack and if you don't like it you wont have to waste it,..
I'm not much of a drinker as it affects my health now, I'm very sensitive to outside chemicals,.. as i get older the worse i get i can't even drink decaf coffee without my heart pounding out of my chest at 140bpm so i have to stop
plus its not good for your kidneys or liver,.. but for the i did it thing try high life first,
as guy and gals taste things different you really have to experiment,..

Yuengling... my Prof had one of those when our class went out for a seafood dinner on the last day of out trip. I think I'll try one of those first.

For those of a small minds that equates beer with being derelict, sloppy, of ill repute, etc, fail to understand that the history of beverages containing alcohol was no accident nor for reasons to become drunk.

One would think that if someone has a strong aversion to spirited drinks they would at least know what they are talking about and not plying a personal platform in a public forum showing their ignorance for all to see.

Fermented beverages came about for a reason and denial of it is sheer ignorance. So the medicinal properties would also have to be denied because a certain individual thinks it to be a drink only for the slovenly derelicts.

Interesting that because one person has a problem then all persons must have a problem. I fail to understand such ill-founded logic.

BTW, I don't drink anything with alcohol in it. But I will not object to someone else having a drink. Nor will I consider them to be a loser.

I drink beer because I like the taste of it, not a drunk, just sometimes prefer a beer over a pop or glass of water. Can't remember the last time I was drunk.
(I was that drunk!!!) No, not really.

If you are moving into the beer world, I would start out with any light beer, they all taste a little weak to me.

A beginner's beer? Good old fashioned Coors Light goes down fairly easy. If you want a citrus flavor, go with Corona or Blue Moon.
