Seriously, when people go slightly off topic on a sale thread by making a gentle comment or if someone dares mention "polysperma" the mods are like Nazis on here. You guys need to take a chill pill, its making this forum somewhat on the lame side.

Whats up with it? Did AC decide to crack down recently? Because I must have read the word POLYSPERMA about a dozen times on each visit to the classifieds. Geez

polysperma is a plant on the federal noxious weed list which is the reason those threads are edited or closed.

I don't think this sort of thread/post is the way to accomplish anything. If you have constructive comments, they are often better received when done in a less agressive manner.

Beautiful plant. Has all of the traits which make it a very nice aquarium plant to have. Unfortunately, it has become naturalized to, at least some, area in the USA. Or, in other words, it is a noxious weed there.

Did I tell you people are pushing to legalize pot here in California? If some liked to smoke polysperma, it might become legalized--I have never heard of anyone smoking it though ... <grin>

USDA bans Hygrophila species.

We regret to inform you that less than 2 weeks ago
the United States Department of Agriculture issued
a federal ban for Hygrophila polysperma and Hygrophila polysperma "Tropic Sunset" species. It is now illegal to sell these plants in the country.

These plants have been in the hobby for quite a while
as they adapt easily to variety of conditions.
They will probably continue to circulate
among the hobbyists for quite a while but unfortunately
they will no longer be available through official
sources.

It's illegal... The USA won't allow a plant labeled as an illegal weed to be sold in in the USA...

because of that, AC has decided to not allow sales for the specific plant.

I highly doubt this is unreasonable.

Classifieds is growing. mods try their best to make sure sales are organised and not cluttered. this helps both the buyer and the seller.


If you feel something's been done that was unwarranted, then PM your favorite mod and it'll be looked into...

Wait, so you're complaining they won't let you sell illegal plants?

Of course they have to shut those threads down- if they didn't there could potentially be a liability to the web-site.

I quite happen to like AC and hope it stays around for a long time- even if that means... sheeesh... they won't let you sell things that are illegal to sell.
