Mods- give it a rest!

Our Mods only do what our members should be doing. Making sure the things that are listed in our classifieds are legal to be sold and or shipped. I for one am glad they do. I am not sure whether you are aware or not, but the USDA monitors this site and just about any site where the possibility of illegal shipments could be made. The USDA visited my house last year looking for illegal snails because I purchased snails online and they were shipped to me. I had nothing illegal, but if I had they could have confiscated every snail I had. There are many on here who do not know what is and is not legal to ship. Our mods are just helping. They also help maintain the integrity of our forums so that "slightly" off topic does not become "completely" off topic or to down right fighting.

I commend the job they do.

Those threads get treated no differently than if it was someone selling snakeheads.

Seriously, when people go slightly off topic on a sale thread by making a gentle comment or if someone dares mention "polysperma" the mods are like Nazis on here. You guys need to take a chill pill, its making this forum somewhat on the lame side.

Whats up with it? Did AC decide to crack down recently? Because I must have read the word POLYSPERMA about a dozen times on each visit to the classifieds. Geez

Chris, I do appreciate the feedback even if it's critical of the direction we've taken. There is more behind what we're doing than what can be seen just browsing around in that section, so your message let's me clear up some of this for you.

When I was asked to mod this forum, the first direction I got from the site admininistrator was to put a stop to all illegal sales... both restricted species and restricted plants. Since polysperma is banned everywhere in the US as a noxious weed by the USDA, any inclusion of that plant in a sale thread will always be removed or the thread closed/deleted... with no exceptions made.

There's no option for me or the other mods to allow any leeway on this point. And as owner/admin for the site, Neoprodigy is in the position to not only make this call... but to also protect himself from possible legal repercussions regarding illegal sales being conducted within any of his network sites.

Im not speaking for all mods, I am speaking for the few that are out of control on here and I am not naming any names. I hardly think that making a comment about something that is on sale is cluttering up a thread. It was never an issue a few months ago, now it is downright annoying!

If you are having an issue with a mod, your best course of action is to pick a global to let them know your grievances and show us some examples. The globals are Reefscape, Rbishop, Dangerdoll, Cheech, and myself. Feel free to contact any one of us with your concerns.

I just have to ask... what makes one mod doing their job okay, and another out of control? If any of them were truly out of control, wouldn't this thread have been closed by now?

The simple fact that they let a thread like this go on (which, the way I have read your posts is basically just bashing mods for doing a hard job) is evidence in itself of tolerance and patience. For you to come out and attack them for doing us a service just seems rude.

I think the mods are doing a wonderful job. Though I think the filter on this forum is hilarious sometimes, I have had nothing but good experiences with most if not all of the mods, even if I did something bad :P

Thanks for the education about Polysperma. I didn't know that they had become illegal and are so invasive.

keep in mind that small talk, not directly related to a sale thread, can get off topic quickly.

some times you have to nip it in the bud.

;)
