I've been trying to decide whether I like your plan or not, Mad. In the end, I don't see any great benefit by doing this. We're still randomly killing off people (because they're lurkers)... so it's the same thing as randomly killing off people for any other (random) reason. The intention behind this is good but it's not going to give us anything better to go on for Day 2. Then if we do this again on Day 2, we're still no better off on Day 3. Basically, it doesn't matter whether we take your approach or not. It's just another bunch of random votes whatever way everyone decides to place them.
That's fine that you're not for the plan. Unfortunately, though, whatever happens on D1, there won't be much in terms of voting record to go from....even most of the scum know nothing at this point.
I can understand why Rich doesn't like the idea... just his opposition doesn't mean he's mafia. Rich is something of a lurker himself. He doesn't normally post much and he doesn't do a lot of digging or make many inquiries even when he's innocent. So Rich would oppose the idea out of self-preservation, if nothing else. I can see the position he's in, given Mad's suggestion, and I don't feel there's reason to lynch Rich for just wanting to stay in the game (whichever side he's on).
I don't have an issue with rich being against the plan....I asked what everyone thought. But instead of giving reasons for being against it, he just dismissed it as 'awfully evil'. Didn't give any reasons until pressed...and in none of his reasons did he address any scum-driven logic.
So Mad, who are your top (or I guess bottom) historically generally unhelpful players?
Since they'll probably never see this, I'd say Ice, Ogre and Z

. Actually, though, I'm not going to name names, as there's no real unanimous decision to move forward with the plan. No sense bruising egos for no reason.
There is a term I was taught years ago, to each their reach. Also, most sucessfull things in life need team work. A football team can't have 11 quaterbacks.
Thanks, Marv. You can't have 11 quarterbacks, but to work as a team, you need everyone giving 110%...firing on all cylinders...leaving it all out on the field. Now back to you in the booth.
Actually, I'm not talking about ability, I'm talking about effort, and the generally non-contributing lurker who can kill you in an end-game situation. Someone, whose play through Day 4 gives you no clue as to their alignment. Scum pushes them as lynch candidates late in the game, and the player has no defense...they've really done nothing pro-town.
I'd really like to know as well. I see where he's coming from, but I don't think it's an effective strategy for this game. No more effective than regular day 1 crazyness at least. imo, This game is about finding associations between players. Those low contributors will align themselves as the game goes on.
I'll give him credit at least that it's a method to place a vote on day 1 at least. It's trying, which is better than enumerating the letters in someones name and calling them scum because it adds up to a prime number.
Based on the setup, my plan is no more effective than any other for hitting scum on D1, it just helps minimize the risk to the town if an innocent gets lynched.
very interesting, sorry havent been on. got to catch up
If you haven't been on, and need to catch up, why would you say 'very interesting'? How would you know if anything interesting has been said?
