Rescued death-row discus...

Mamapuff, I am so sorry to hear of "Oma"s health. I will say a prayer for her and your family.

I'm so sorry for your grandmother, your dear "Oma's" health problems... I was reading your thread and then was interrupted... had to get up and go take care of some family matters.... and when I came back I failed to remember about your situation with your beloved grandma... and only commented on the happiness of your success with your rescued fish.

I hope and pray that she will recover... and that you and your familiy will be comforted in your time of extreme difficulty. Please know my thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Thank you both so much for your kind words. They made me cry. Oma has always been a very strong woman, and I think what is making it hard is that I can't seem to accept that a broken hip is going to take out a woman who hid in ditches from Nazis, who got on one of the only two trains, one which led to Auschwitz, the other to freedom, or who raised her cousins in one bedroom with one bed. The fact that these idiotic "doctors" missed something that should have been noticed upon admission astounds me.

I truly appreciate your kind words and prayers. I found myself last night at a Asian restaurant scrounging for any coins to make wishes into the fountain. :worthy:

So sorry to hear about Ouma. I hope everything turns out well for her.

And again congrats and well done on saving that fish. Would love to see updated pics of it-when you have time of course.

Ok, as promised here are a few pics of Trooper and Company :)

Thank you again for all the kind words.

I will also keep your grandmother in my prayers...

Final Update

So, I had to make an emergency trip to Houston on Wednesday morning at 2 am. Oma had seen Jesus and my dad called and said it was time to say goodbye. I rushed down and got in at 5 am, and said my goodbyes....

Here's the good news, after the doctors caught their F*** up, her vitals stabilized. No one could figure out why she was seeing Jesus though. Over the next few days she improved and they did surgery on her hip on Thursday. She was up on her walker scooting around on Saturday when I left to come home :) Thank you to you all who sent prayers and well wishes. I made a deal with the big man upstairs as we drove, (me hysterical most of the way). I told him take my fish instead any, all, whatever he wanted, just not her.

Well, I came home, and Trooper, Buddy (the white discus), my one eyed albino tin foil barb, and a few of my other guys died. My saltwater tank suffered as well. All anemones dead. All tanks super low on water. Sigh* Even with someone coming to check on them :hang:

It's ok though. I gave it a good shot, and as I said before, life happens. 4 sets of water changes later, I feel more content and ready for the next challenge. Even stumbled upon a new rescue yesterday that just happened to come home with me. :) Separate thread to follow.

RIP Trooper and Buddy and friends

Glad to read that your oma is doing okay and sorry tohear about your fish. Best of luck with everything.
