Btw: check out the pond vs bladder snail thread in the Invert section ... I'm guessing you've got bladder snails. I looove my ramshorns!

Tank looks awesome! I liked that big wood, but agree it needs to move back among or behind the plants.

The left side depth shot was amazing -so many plants! :thm:

Fishycat, I may indeed have bladder snails. Sometimes I think I have as many species of snail as i have snail, though. Also, I have that "mystery plant" still growing in my 20 long frankentank. Maybe someday I'll decide to thin the herd...

Since posting those last updates I finally caught sight of at least 3 amano shrimp. I had started to think (again) that they were all gone. But I can see now that the larger piece of driftwood has ample hollow space on its underside; I had forgotten, thinking it was more solid. The shrimp appear to be moving in and out of there, so I think they've got a nice safe home now. :)
 
Can you fit the wood diagonally or vertically against the back of your tank?

Please keep me in mind if you have any unwanted portions of said mystery plant! :D
 
It looks GREAT! I think it looks much more natural without the drifwood tree. Keep us posted!

Oh I actually meant the piece of driftwood that's still in the tank, on the left side. It's hollow on its underside. The tree that I took out has some hollowness to it, but I don't THINK there are any shrimp in it. At any rate just to be safe (and to keep it soaking) I dropped it into my 29 gallon that I'm currently not doing much with. It'll probably be a QT at some point, whenever i get more fish for this tank. So right now it's got some crypts floating in there and the big tree in the middle. Might end up using it in that one ultimately when I do something with it.

I will definitely let you know if I get to shipping some plants around. It can't be long, as at this point my "unplanted" 20 high in my living room has got four crypts, an octopus plant, one of the stems of the mystery plant, a little of the water sprite, one my baby amazon swords... Like I said somewhere, I'm addicted to buying plants now.

I agree, it looks better without the tree. Ultimately if that piece of wood ever sinks I might put it back in there on its side, but probably not, as my current thinking is that I don't need anything else that size in there. I've got some much thinner branches soaking outside that I might try out at some point.

Anybody have any ideas on that weird looking birdpoo snail? Wish I could get a picture...
 
Maybe a FW limpet? (I think that's what they're called) Vampie is mystery invert guy along with a few others. Try for a pic of the bird poo lol.

I like the new look without the big tree, it was a little overpowering but as things on & around it grow it may not be such a focal!! point. How was it "standing" on the rock? I meant to ask before.

I'll try getting pics. I'll always look up a limpet, I dont' know what that is.

the piece of wood was actually tied to a rock. I drilled a whole through the bottom, then tied it to a rock, so that the rock just acted like an anchor holding it down. The wood actually floats just a tiny bit above the rock. I had tried siliconing it to a flat piece of rock, but it came off.
