55g Planted tank (The Start)

I didn't think it would ever actually happen, an update! Tanks looks a little rough but it's nothing you can't handle, and the fish don't look like they mind it at all!

You better continue to update or I might PUSH you off the fall of the planet! :FIREdevil:

:grinyes: This is me practically starting fresh with a planted tank, just glad i have the essentials already (co2 and lights). The weather is a pain since I cant order plants and buying locally is out of question (idiotic petco moss balls). Dont worry soon it will all come together. Ohh decisions decisions.. not sure if i should stick with the rocks or just get a bunch of stems/val and whatnot and just layer it out.

FINARRY!!!!!

Want some red root floaters?
I just got rid of a ton of anacharis, would have given it to you if you wanted it.

....and what is wrong with sticking a few fake plants into corners to give it a lived and loved in look?
"I am AXING?"...
Fake plants??:hitting::barf::thumbsdown:
Getting fake plants would defeat the purpose of having a planted tank setup (good light/pressurized co2 and ferts).. Once one experiences live plants I doubt they would ever want to even go near fake ones. But thats just me....

lol How are yours doing?? getting any color with them?

Anacharis!! ahhh the duckweed of the underwater world. That was one of my first plants i had as a kid, thing grows feet upon feet.

Bk718, now, now!
Let us not get our undergarments into a twist....what I should have suggested was: "a few fake plants temporarily until your ordered jungle pack arrives safely at UR home..."

There now! Was that better?

My seven tanks are all planted with real plants. ONLY in the 55fer with the two bullish Goldfish I needed to stick something into the corners. So far these things have not been unearthed/ungravelled, and that is good.

Don't forget to send pics for us to admire.

I didn't even put half in the tank, I gave the rest away. It's taken over the frogbit that is in there. I wouldn't know I had it if not for the long roots, haha! It has colored up, nice deep pink.

I know this is off topic, but did you ever get your puppy? Hope I didn't over load you with info:rolleyes:

I love jungle looking tanks, just sucks when you dont have time to upkeep one.

You can have a jungle tank with easy plants! Though if you were referring to trimming the plants, you lost me there, lol. But here are a few plants that would do alright in nearly any tank creating a jungle look:

Java fern/moss
Windelov (looks cool and it grows slowly)
Jungle/Twisted Vallisneria (or nearly any val but I find twisted very easy)
Star/guppy grass
Hygrophila Polysperma
Dwarf Sag
Anacharis
Ambulia
Anubias

...and much more!! Go ahead and make that jungle tank if you don't mind trimming :).
