29 Gallon Asian River Tank Thread

Will the clowns get attacked by my false siamese aglae eater?

No, they won't, but you will have to rehome them like platytudes said, but they will be fine until they get around 4".

They need more room than 30" - they're very active, and also ich prone. Like cories, they need to be in groups of more than 2 or 3. I wouldn't include them. Try zebra loaches instead.

+1 on zebras, but IME, yoyos look way better, and are more fun to watch. I would get 4. And the females get pregnant often, but the fry usually don't live. All loaches are ich prone.

hmmm the tank is preety well stocked. I really think my false siamese algae eater would not handle a loach. He is really territorial and thinks hes the boss.

Yoyo loaches are cool, but they get quite a bit bigger - 6" instead of 4". Clown loaches seem to have the worst reputation of any loach for being ich prone (like pictus cats!) but that's probably because they are the most common loach.

It sounds like the FSAE is really going to limit your stocking for the lower level of the tank. I can't think of any Asian catfish that stay small enough.

If you haven't seen it already, this is a great resource for selecting fish:

I have ground dwelling fish they are just small. I have 3 stiphodons and 3 Ornate loaches. They get along with the FSAE because he dosnt really notice them. All 3 are great algae eaters and are my primary defense against algae. I have one dwarf river catfish in mind and that is a moth catfish. Although the tank is heavily stocked that would be a nice option since it stays small and would love all the driftwood and rocks.

Yoyos would've been cool if the tank were larger. What about skunks? Pretty sure they get big though...hmm....Nice tank either way!

I would get like 6 of those asian stone catfish(hara jerdoni) as they are super hard to find and don't move around much. I have them in my 20G H, and I can hardly find any of them. I have 6.
