    Mid Cycling #'s HELP

Dont worry about the nitrates now.... low nitrates is a good thing too. Just take care of the ammonia and nitrites mainly now....when these two get to 0ppm then you can work on getting the nitrate levels good.

    Mid Cycling #'s HELP

:iagree: Keep up with water changes to get ammonia and nitrites under .25ppm ...this might mean you will be having to do 2-3 water changes a day depending on the test results. This is the main reason I went with a fishless cycle....no water changes to do...just tests.

What water for my water changes?

When I drain my tank I run my Python out the door close to my tank....seems to get better suction for vacuuming the gravel...plus no water waste using the faucet water to supply the suction. I have a bucket just for rinsing my filter cartridges in... when I start draining the tank I just fill...

    Ugh! My Python broke!

So I take it you have never took a swim in a creek or river (full of fish poop) :) Also the water you drink comes from these same creeks and rivers before being treated ;)

    So I went tank hunting...

Offer them $10 :) ....Also see if they have a water faucet out back or something that they would let you fill it up and test for leaks.

What water for my water changes?

I agree you should be doing weekly water changes of atleast 20% (I would do 30-40%).. A month is a long time to wait between changes. Invest in a Python water changer/vacuum to do water changes... Hooks right up to the sink and can be used to drain and refill all at the turn of the switch... Add...

    Help Cloudy Tank

Oh yes I would...so would all the others on the forum :D I try not to think of what I have spent and try to just enjoy the hobby....It would defeat the purpose of having a tank to help relax yourself if all you thought about when you looked at it were $$$ swimming around ;)

    Help Cloudy Tank

What are your ammonia and nitrite readings? Being that you are cycling with fish the small water changes you are doing may not be enough.... You should test the water (hopefully with a liquid test kit) and do water changes that will get ammonia and nitrite levels at or below .25ppm. Plus...

Glad to see you are making progress...another 50% would get you at .25ppm Once you get them lower it will be easier to maintain..... I would go ahead and do another 50% tonight and then it might get to where one wc a day will keep you where it needs to be until the cycle finishes
