I think you better measure the size of drop from your betta conditioner bottle first. From the description of the smallest prime bottle, 2 drops per gallon. http://www.fish.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=710353+100 1 ml for each 10 gallons of water (0.1ml per gallon)...

2 large drops or 3 small drops per gallon using smallest bottle or dropper are good enough.

I don't have much problems viewing and taking pictures in my 36G Bow front. One of my friend has 26G bow in the hallway of the 2nd floor. His bow front is located about 60 degree from the stair. It looks a little distorted from the stair. It is kinds of extreme case but still not horrible though.

Good point!!! Plenty of green algae has been there in 10G. Just in case, I put about 2 algae disks PER WEEK. Surprisingly, female guppies ate most of them.
