The new C-series has much better bio filtration than a magnum, but I've just never been a fan of the bio-wheels. Despite using them for years, I finally replaced my last penguin with an aquaclear.

To add to JMhart, those wheels also put all that weight onto small patches of contact too. So you will probably noticed some nice dents in wood or plastic tiled floors after a period of time.

Find some plain white Ammonia (pure), and feed it that way. Try to shoot for 1-2ppm, and that should keep it ready for a real fish load.

I mix RO with tap at a ratio of 50/50. It makes a difference, since SoCal water is full of minerals. But only my highlight-Co2 tanks get this treatment.

I recently aquired one through a raffle and its missing the power adapter for the light. Can anyone provide me the info on the back of the adapter, ie. voltage out, amperage, etc. I havent called Tetra yet, but if I have an adapter in my junk box of electronic equipment, problem solved. Thanks...

Gloss white paint would make a much better reflector than that foil, and much easier to apply. But I would recommend Catalina or Fishneedit fixtures personally. They have actual reflectors, plus the fixture was designed for use over an aquarium. I dont know how much savings you'll see after...
