    16g planted euro

Thanks, guys. :) Constructive criticism is welcome. I was thinking about adding a black background. Not sure if that's a good idea.

    Porthole catfish

My PetSmart just started carrying them this past week, which means your local store probably will as well. They are priced at $9.99 each. Hope that helps.

    Question about Tanks

Wow, that's dirty. It's people like you that make me despise working in retail. Rationalizing that they still "make money" and therefore "don't care" is utter crap. There's a serious lack of integrity these days..

    16g planted euro

Recently set this tank up.. my first attempt at a more natural looking tank.. I think it will look nice once the plants begin to grow out. I am using pool filter sand as the substrate, and current inhabitants are a small sprig of wisteria, some java ferns, dwarf sags, corkscrew vals, anubias...

    Plant ID, please.

Picked up this plant from Wal-Mart today (I know, naughty!). I know I have seen the plastic version in other stores, but I do not know the name. I only picked it out as I have been eyeing it for the past couple weeks and it seems to be flourishing in Wal-Marts low lighting and lack of plant...

    Where to buy plants

I just ordered from aquariumplants.com. Seems professional and the prices are reasonable. My order was just shipped out today, so we'll see how I feel tomorrow when I receive them lol.

    New to plants-- have questions.

Hi everyone. I'm a noob to the aquatic plant world. For the past couple years, I have kept java ferns as well as wisteria in my tanks successfully, but without having to invest in any supplemental additives and nutrients. I am looking to heavily plant my 16g, and I've just placed an order for 3...

How would puffers do with africans?

Dwarf puffers are freshwater fish and do prefer a neutral pH.. They are also much too small to reside with most African cichlids.. they would be lunch!

PetSmart is getting new fish-- Rummy nose rasbora?

Some PetSmarts will price match all websites, and others will only price match PetSmart.com and local pet stores (with documentation). It all depends on the store's management. Mine is good about price matching, but the item has to be exact.. as in same exact brand and model.

    sick black moor needs help

I'm sorry to hear about your fish! I am in no way an expert, but it sounds to me like he may suffer from an epidemic known as septicemia (and perhaps swim bladder issues, or even dropsy?).. If this is the case, immediate treatment with a broad spectrum antibiotic is crucial. Anti-bacterial food...

PetSmart is getting new fish-- Rummy nose rasbora?

I only have the two, but I will pick up another tomorrow. Thanks for the tip; luckily they had quite a few. As for the celebes rainbows, they were neat looking, but I think they were $10 a pop! Maybe I'll look into the rummy nose rasboras, but they were somewhat plain looking (but again, maybe...

PetSmart is getting new fish-- Rummy nose rasbora?

Just a heads up. PetSmart is phasing out a bunch of their old fish and getting some new ones in for their new fiscal year.. I just picked up some reduced fish tonight, a couple yo-yo loaches ($3), balloon-bellied platies ($2), and some greenfire tetras ($1 each).. Like half of their goldfish...

I decided to find out for sure.

    Re-did my 29 gallon!!!

Of the aqua fern (left), peacock fern (middle), and kyoto grass (middle and right), none are aquatic plants. You may as well remove them now before they start dying. Nice tank, though. :) I like the look of the white gravel.

    Death to Smooch... err.. Petsmart!!

PetSmart does not carry saltwater fish. The idea has been thrown around, but as far as I know, no action has been taken, nor will be in the near future. Also, PetSmart has a strict policy concerning their own quarantine tanks, which are kept in a secluded area of the store.. they are not kept...

Any benefit to using established water?

It is my understanding that the vast majority of the tank's bacteria thrives in the filter media, and to some extent, the substrate. Is there any benefit to transferring water from an established system when setting up a new tank? Just the water, nothing else.. I always assumed such efforts were...

    Chinese algea eating shrimp?

PetSmart has them labeled as Japanese Algae Eating Shrimp, not Chinese.

    High pH pleco?

I am pretty sure he is just using the current tank temporarily, as he recently upgraded his pair of brichardis. He will be moving the frontosas into a larger tank once they grow, but as of now, they are only about 1.5 inches long.. I do not think he wants a pleco for algae control, but rather...
