I Think my 55g oddball has ick!!

Salt and heat should be fine, especially since the fish mentioned are not particularly sensitive to salt.

    Feeding bloodworms?

I used to feed bloodworms to my ADF by first letting it thaw in a cup of tank water then feeding them using a 'baby bird-feeding' syringe that i would use similarly to how others use the turkey baster. The frogs saw the thing and would come over to it eventually.

    tap water conditioner

So you're ok giving newbies who might read this the impression that it is fine to not use water conditioners? Sounds like it. Your friend has been very fortunate, but you shouldn't insinuate that removing chlorine and chloramine is not important, and only necessary in saltwater tanks.

New 65 gallon tank, Stocking plan help

the rainbow sharks do better with large barbs like tigers that can hold their own and avoid the aggression better. I've seen them in tanks with lesser aggreessive South Americans and Central American cichlids too. for the angels, I'd keep it at one proven pair once you get to that point.

I disagree, you still need to remove chlorine and chloramine.

Speak to me of "needle fish"

These needlefish are not actually gars, as gars are from the family Lepisosteidae, which includes Florida and alligator gars. Xenentodon belongs to Belonidae, the needlefishes.
