who wants to help me make my tank!

My gourami loves the floating water sprite in my tank. He makes the biggest bubble nest in its leaves, really neat to see.

need some ideas for a black and white theme tank....

Saw some silver mollys at the LFS today. They were pure white and would probably look pretty good. If they actually turned silver you'd just have a nice mid-tone I guess.

    Ph dropped, don't know cause

Anything dead in the tank? The driftwood might be the culprit. How long has it been in the tank?

Creek Diving II -- The Fish Messiah

My family used to go fishing at some local ponds every Friday night. One night, I was walking around the endge of the pond looking for fish schools to cast into when I saw this enormous shadow just under the waters surface. It must have been as big as me at the time (about 4ft) and my first...

Embrace the hobby. You are becoming an aquanut, don't resist, it's happy here. Good luck with him.

need some ideas for a black and white theme tank....

Black and white crowntail, a few ghost shrimp, zebra plec (probably too big for your 15gal, but if you want to upgrade to say, 55 gallons... ;)), panda corys, and maybe some black and white mollies? As for the substrate... can't you use an epoxy dye on play sand?

    Fish swimming at the glass

Some fish just don't do well in captivity and run at the glass. That's why great white sharks have never been kept in captivity longer than a week; they either die from stress or beat themselves to death on the sides of their tank.

    Genetic problem

Chances are you just bought a pregnant female just after she spawned. Inter-breeding is difficult to do not only in that the fry tend not to survive, but you have to coax two parents of different species to mate. =/

    300 litre tank lighting

See if you can get ahold of an algae ball. Neat looking things (I'd say they look like tribbles, but then I'd be marked as a dork ;)), and since it's an algae it'll out compete any others from growing in the tank.

Rocks from the beach for fishtank???

A great idea. Not sure why no one thought to post it. Anyway, just goto your local landscape supply. You should get nice rocks pretty cheap if your local places are like the one I use. $30 for a ton of granite. I paid $3 for 30 pounds to put in my 20 and I had a few rocks left over.

    Genetic problem

Guppies and mollies can and have interbred as both belong to the Poecilia genus. As for whether or not the fry will survive.... I can't say. The myriad of genetic problems that are possible will most likely remove most of the molly/guppies before they reach a size large enough for you to see...

    I got a snail!

I think snails are pretty resistant to water toxins. Mine have never shown any signs of illness or suffering. Though.... one is slightly retarded. He'll climb to the top of the tank, snag a water sprite leaf, cut it off, and jump two feet to the bottom of the tank. O.o

    black moor emergency

Peas help with internal parasites when soaked in garlic. And yeah, the driftwood "color" is actually beneficial to most fish. Some like tetras need the yellow "black" water inorder to breed. Silly things.

    black moor emergency

Sounds like a swim bladder disorder. Since he's not showing any physical signs I would suspect an internal infection. Try treating with TMP Sulfa and see how he does. Good luck! Swim Bladder Disorders

    Creek Diving & Clams

At this point the damage is done. Do not release the clams back into the wild as you may introduce a non-native virus/bacterium/parasite into the water. Which is way worse than illeaglly keeping a few clams in my opinon. Aside from the difficulties of keeping them, which you can do IMO...

    Upgrading from 10g to 29g

There's no reason to keep any of the old water. It's just full of waste and toxins and very little of the bacteria you're looking to move over. Just move the filter , substrate, plants (java moss is great for seeding a new tank) and a few of the decorations if you really want to keep them. Move...

    Small crab possably a fiddler

Most crabs actually behave as if they were amphibians and need access to land and water. Pick up a hydometer from your LFS (~$6 for a plastic one), a bag of play sand from Home Depot (~$2.50), and a plastic rubbermaid container ($5-20 at Walmart) and you'll be pretty much set to care for him...

    Peacock Cichlids

Deeper, brighter colors in males are brought out by females as a display. Fish not trying draw attention to themselves tend to be less frequently munched on in the wild, so most animals only show bright coloration when courting a female, defending territory, or advertisizing that they are bad...
