Turning live wood into drift wood?

Someone in the neighbor hood just had a tree cut down and I think I can go pilfer one of the larger pieces of trunk. There were some nice looking pieces, a few lengths of a 8"-10" diameter trunk split in half vertically. The only trouble is I can't see placing live wood into my tank ending...

    2 New Tanks (Pics)

I think you're right... these look almost like identical large-scale versions of him. Good think I'm trading him in tomorrow for something less hostile... like plants. Oh, and I found a pond snail in the 10gal. I have absolutly no idea where it came from. The sword I got from the nail...

Picture of a female dwarf gourami?

Because they're considered unattractive and thus worthless to sell.

    2 New Tanks (Pics)

Betta Tank: I split this up using plans forr DIY tank dividers. I didn't do any progression shots on the project since it's pretty well documented online and I doubt my horrific silicon work warrants any kudos. And at some point (when I get a PC 40-60w light for my 20gal) I'll do something...

UH OH i've cycled my tank with....

If your goldfish are healthy after going through a cycle then they shouldn't pass on any health problems to your new additions. I would however watch the barbs, they tend to nip fins.

Thoughts on returning fish when they get too big

It depends. If I can give it a good home (better than at the fish store) then yes, I think buying a fish I know will get too large for my tank eventually is worth while. At the point the fish becomes to large I think a humane euthanization or tank transplant is far more beneficial and fair to...

    Water flow and Algae

Put in a few quick growing plants to outcompete the alge, set a few SAE's, snails, and cherry shrimp, that or black out the tank for a week.

    Bamboo Shrimp

I think I'm going to take him back to the store in a day of two. He seems very reclusive and if feeding him is going to be such a challange I'd rather not put him through it. Plus cherry shrimp would add so much more color to the tank! Edit: I have a package of baby brine in teh freezer...

    Bamboo Shrimp

Will they filter the sand for food? He seems to be doing just that currently and picking up more food than I believed I had allowed to drop. He may have trouble competing with my cories (4 emeralds) but I doubt he'll starve. The shrimp pellets break up in a matter of minutes and the gourami...

    Bettas......

    Bamboo Shrimp

I can't find much information on these guys, so I decided to ask people who know about them. What are the basics of care? Are they hard to cater to, picky about water conditions (I only care about amonia and nitrite, I don't have testers for ph, gh, or kh) and will 20gal be enough to hold one...

    Bettas......

Shhh, the white one was the "female" of the bunch ;p

    Bettas......

I wish I still had her. :( Finding an equally beautiful fish will be quite the challange.

    Bettas......

:( The white one jumped cup and crispied unter my table/stand :( I left the cups open for an hour or so while I was busy around the house. I guess bettas are opportunists. Such a pitty, that was a really pretty, personable fish.

    Bettas......

http://www.mushi.petfish.net/diydividers.html I really want to put a betta or two near my computer... Maybe I should sub divide a 5g... Anyway, I just divided a 10gal into thirds (Thanks to EMG!) and these are the future occupants! Movie (15.2mb)

Just over dosed with Flourish Excell

What should I do? Cause I'm stupid and tired I put in 5 capfulls (directions say 1 cap ful per 10gals in first dosing) into my new 20gal. What are the possible sideffects? What, if anything, should I do? Water is pristine besides the extra carbon. Three cory's, two snails, two ADF's, and...

    Yet another betta question

:D Bettas rock. Just got these three pretties last night from Walmart. I think they were quite the steal as all three are very active and showy. The cups are temporary, they're just waiting for the silicon in their tank (10 gal divided into thirds) to cure (day after tomorrow).

    Bettas + Salt = ?

I just saw this site stating that bettas require salt at the rate of 1tsp / gal. I've never ever heard this before so I'm interested. IS this just someone spouting off dis-information, or is legitimate? http://www.petfish.net/betta_care.htm

    ohhhh Petco

I bought the three bettas I'm putting into a divided tank last night and some dude behind me says: "You know, betta only fight if they're jealous of the other's colors. Yup, we put two with the exact coloring into the same tank and, *poppy noise*, nothin' happened." I beat him to death in my...
