    WHOOOO-HOOOO I got a New Tank!!

Yay!!! :dance I got a new tank for Christmas! Well.. Its not new, it's used, and the seams leak(the silicone peels right off), and I'm going to fix that today. The tank is a 42 gal. Hexagon. I have allready discovered something interesting. A powerfilter(HOB) probably won't hang on the...

Anybody Know What Type of Catfish this is??

I am hoping that somebody here will help me identify my catfish. I have 2 of them in my 55 gal., and they were sold to me as pictus....Which I am pretty sure that they are not. I would really like to know what kind they are, especially to know if I can keep them. They are awfully skittish...

    Omg Yay :d

This might sound stupid, but if everybody here is worried about the glass breaking on the bottom, and want to replace it cheap, why not put in a 3/4" piece of marine plywood, fiberglass it, and paint over it. You could reinforce the plywood to make it stonger and less brittle than the glass...

    Goldfish agression?

The thing is though, that I have seen the fancy chasing the black moor around the tank before. I just never thought that goldfish would be mean like that, and I don't know what to do. I am going to my LFS on thursday to get a betta for my planted tank, and I will see if she will take the fish...

    Goldfish agression?

I have 2 gold fish that are being housed in my 55 gal tank for the winter(they were in a pond outside until it got too cold). One is a fancy and the other is a black moor. Recently, in the past few weeks, the black moor has been harrassed by the much larger fancy. Tonight when I got home, he...

    Freshwate Test Kit

I got this one by Hagen, and I love it. It has tests for allmost everything(I still need to find a potassium test) http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=19475;category_id=3111;pcid1=3233;pcid2=

Given old, dirty tank & supplies, HELP

I wouldn't worry too much about the Bio-spira at this point. Your cycle has started already, as evident by the nitrItes & nitrAtes. Just keep doing daily water changes(or if the ammonia/nitrite gets above 1ppm) until the ammonia & nitrItes drop to zero. If you are dilligent enough, your fish...

    Stocking Suggestions

How well would the Harlequin Rasboras hold up to the moderate PH swings? Any other suggestions then as to what to get. I am also open to some larger, but peaceful fish. I guess with the PH the neons and cardinals are out. I really hate to knowingly hurt my fishes.

    Stocking Suggestions

If I put in some cardinal tetras, first off, would they survive my PH swings? The tank has DIY C02, and the PH has varied from 7.4-7.8(I don't know if this is major, but in terms of C02 in my water it is) when the C02 bottle starts slowing down. It helps having a KH of 13 deg., but would the...

    Stocking Suggestions

I was thinking about 5-6 cardinal tetras, and a few more cories. If the tank seems too crowded(which right now, seems bare, but it may just be the plants), I can move the platies to my 55. My supposed pictus catfish are afraid of their own shadow, and don't bother the black long fin tetras...

    Stocking Suggestions

First off, I would like to say that this is a great site, and I refer to it all the time, especially when I was starting my 29 gal. planted tank recently. I am trying to decide what else I should add to my 29 planted. List of current fishes: 4 silver mollies 6 platies(asst.) 3 otos 1...
