    Jeffrey's "Little Man" -ADA 60-P

A modicum of progress. I put together the manifold I'll be using for the inline pH probe and the co2 injection. Water flows from left to right, first hitting the pH probe mounting using the handy dandy Heyco water tight cordgrip, and then onto the co2 injection. I'm using an irrigation drip...

    Replacing substrate

Ditto. I did this on a 45g about a year ago, well, sort of. I had a ton of SMS in the tank, and I wanted to pull out over half of it and replace with Flourite. Did exactly what MG described. Started in the morning one Saturday, tank was back running with hardscape, plants, and fish before...

Can you fertilize roots with liquid ferts!

Beat me to it. Flourite also has a good CEC and it is significantly more dense than Turface and SMS, so it's great for planted tank.

Starting Planted tanks again had a few question

Is the "comprehensive supplement" just straight "Seachem Flourish"? If so, you can use that as a trace fertilizer. I'm guessing it's either Seachem Trace or Seachem Flourish, and either one can be used for traces. K2SO4 is used to dose potassium. KNO3 is used to does nitrate. Generally...

    Jeffrey's "Little Man" -ADA 60-P

Thanks! I was really pleased with how it turned out. The stand is made out of maple, and I used a Jet Mahogany stain with satin finish. I'm really happy with it. The thing about little tanks is that you can pretty much use anything as a stand. I ordered this stand from a local unfinished...

    Aquarium lighting with lunar lighting?

Great places to buy lighting are: hellolights.com catalinaaquarium.com fishneedit.com All will offer lights with lunar LEDs. Typically, fixtures that come with LEDs will be high light, and require a setup suited for such. What is your current lighting? As far as the fan noise, unless...

    Jeffrey's "Little Man" -ADA 60-P

The equipment for this tank is as follows: ADA 60-P for the tank ADA AS I for substrate Coralife 2x65w PC for the lighting, one GE 9325k bulb and the other bulb is undecided(either another GE bulb or a 10,000K). The 9325 will be on for 8-10 hours, and the other bulb will be a 2-4...

    Jeffrey's "Little Man" -ADA 60-P

Yeah, it's about 4-5 feet way from the fireplace. It's a small gas fireplace, see through, that connects between my living room and dining room. I don't expect much in the department of temperature fluctuations. I keep tanks fairly warm, 78-80, and I keep my house about 72. I've got a 300w Hydor...

    Jeffrey's "Little Man" -ADA 60-P

That was kind of my idea in downsizing...lose 4 tanks, but come back with 2 really nice tanks. The tank, stand, soil, and filter are the only things new...the rest I've had from previous tanks. Thanks, I'm really happy with the way the stain turned out....I wish I could take credit for the...

    Jeffrey's "Little Man" -ADA 60-P

It's time to setup my 60-P. In June my wife and I found out we'd be moving from the San Francisco Bay Area back home to Atlanta. Sad as I was about losing access to such great stores as AFA, Ocean Aq, and Albany Aq  , I made an opportunity out of it . At the time I had four tanks setup: a...

Don't let your Eheim Ecco get clogged, not thermally protected

That's interesting, I think the Ecco is less of a pita than an XP3...to each his own I guess. If somehow I'd gotten stuck with a broken Ecco and no recourse, I was gonna go with an XP2.

Don't let your Eheim Ecco get clogged, not thermally protected

Well, got some conclusion: Took it to Petco, told them I bought it two months ago, it stopped working, and Eheim told me to return it to the store. They let me exchange it with no issue what so ever. I went with an even swap, 2236 for 2236. I considered going with a 2215 or 2217, but I really...

Don't let your Eheim Ecco get clogged, not thermally protected

I suppose I should be more preventative on the cleaning of my prefilter, but depending on what's going on in my tank, sometimes it needs cleaning weekly, sometimes monthly. And in a shrimp tank, I insist on a prefilter. I'm very disappointed with this filter.

Don't let your Eheim Ecco get clogged, not thermally protected

In September I purchased a new Eheim Ecco 2236 from Petco. This weekend, my prefilter became clogged. Now, it does not work. I've had many Eheims over the years, mostly the Pro II series, and from time to time the prefilter module has clogged, causing the flow to drop to zero. Normally, I just...

    How dangerous is bowing?

Some bowing is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, but emphasis on the some. Did it originally have a center brace, as in, did you or a previous owner remove it? 1/5" is probably fine...it's the 1/4" and up bow that you want to watch out for. I'm assuming it's bowing more than it...

Help choosing tank, Marineland vs Aqueon 120g RR

Thanks, but I'm more than aware ;). I'm using a modified setup and didn't feel it quite necessary to share all the bits and pieces. To rephrase the question, will one overflow on a 120g provide enough circulation? I don't really want to add any powerheads to the tank, but I'm fine adding a...

Help choosing tank, Marineland vs Aqueon 120g RR

I've just been offered something interesting. For the exact same price I can either get an Aqueon 120g with two standard overflows, or a Marineland 120g with one corner overflow. My problem is this: the marineland is a nicer higher quality tank, but will the singl corner overflow allow for...

    Anubias Nana Mini vs Petite

Well, it's not illegal to ship plants inside the US(unless they are on the noxious weed list) , but it's illegal to import them without a license. They must ship through customs. It's not a big deal to do, but given the cost of shipping and import fees, it's cost prohibitive on small orders.

    Craigslist score

I'll have to get some pictures up tomorrow, too dark now. I should have gotten pictures there. The tanks were a brutal mess. They've all been outside for a month, and it's been a month of wicked rains/floods/muds so they were quite disgusting. It actually worked in my favor. The first dude to...
